Simon Scarrow was born in Africa and brought up in a number of countries before settling in England. He learned the art of storytelling after lights out at school and wanted to keep telling stories when he grew up. After university he trained as an accountant before switching to computer programming, and finally found his calling as a history teacher. The writing continued as a hobby and resulted in the publication of his first novel in 2000. Since then Simon has published twenty five more novels which have been translated into more than twenty languages. The last ten books have all been Sunday Times bestsellers. Sadly he had to give up teaching in 2005 but hopes that his novels convince readers to share his passion for history. Simon lives in Norwich, England.
